About this substrate
01What is blond peat?
Blond peat is a lightly decomposed sphagnum peat resulting from the partial degradation of Sphagnum moss. It is a material very rich in organic matter, with a coarse, light structure, able to absorb 10 to 15 times its own weight in water.
02What is blond peat used for as a substrate?
It is the ideal base for professional substrates: it provides great water and nutrient retention and a high degree of aeration that favours root development in all kinds of plant species, with a porous texture that allows good drainage.
03Where does blond peat come from?
It is extracted from the uppermost layers of peat bogs and comes from the accumulation and decomposition of moss of the Sphagnum genus. At Crea Sustratos it is processed at our factory in Granada before being used in the final blends.
